Trainer — DevOps / DevSecOps / SRE (Part-time, Consulting)
About the role
Teach a cohort of motivated engineers moving into production Cloud + DevOps + DevSecOps + SRE roles. You deliver live sessions (two evenings a week, eight weeks per cohort), review assignments, and hold office hours. Engagement is a consulting retainer — you keep your day job. You'll be working with learners who already know basics and are looking for the production depth that textbook courses miss — chaos scenarios, incident post-mortems, real IaC tradeoffs. If you miss mentoring engineers, this is a way to do it on a structured schedule without quitting your job.
Responsibilities
- Deliver ~16 live sessions per cohort covering CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, observability, cloud security, SRE practices, or your specialism.
- Author hands-on labs and graded assignments that mirror what learners will do on day one of their new role.
- Review learner submissions with qualitative, actionable feedback — not just pass/fail.
- Host weekly office hours and async Q&A in the student forum.
- Collaborate with the VTB curriculum team on syllabus updates as tooling evolves.
- Help shape the VTB technical brand — occasional blog posts or workshop demos welcome, not required.
What we're looking for
- 7–9 years of hands-on DevOps, DevSecOps, or SRE experience in production environments.
- Strong production fluency with Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP).
- Prior training, mentoring, or conference-speaking experience — people remember your explanations.
- Excellent spoken English; ability to break down complex systems for mid-career learners.
- Comfort with a part-time engagement — approximately 6 hours per week during an active cohort.
- Current employment is fine; we work around your day job.
